How to Recruit the Leaders You Need
A question I’m asked almost every week is if I know any leaders or heavy hitters that would be interested in coming to their company.
I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and over that time I’ve had the opportunity to meet many leaders and heavy hitters in the industry. I know many guys that are making several million dollars a year but, are they going to come to your business? No, they’re not, they’re already successful.
More importantly, if they’re willing to just walk away from the business they’re in to come to your business, is that what you really want? Because the next time they think they see a better opportunity, they’re going to leave your business to go to that one. I call this ‘the shiny balls on the tree’. Because when you put something out, they see that and come for it, but when they see another shiny ball, they’re going to leave for that.
What I can tell you from my 20 years in this industry is that you want to cultivate leaders from the grassroots. You want to find the ones that haven’t succeeded in the last 10 companies they were in. You want to find the ones that are so hungry for the success that will allow them to provide for their families or go on that vacation or buy that new car. Show them how they can make an extra $500 or $1000 a month, that’s what’s going to change their lives. Don’t talk about the millions of dollars they could make.
Be passionate about your product. Share that product with other people and the value that it brings. You’re going to create people that love your products too, and if they love your product they’re going to want to be your distributors. Those distributors are the ones you want to be leaders in your company.
